Around 80% of people will experience some form of back pain in their lifetime. If you have suffered from back pain you will know it can be debilitating and really affect your quality of life.

The Better Back Program is an exercise-based program suitable for almost anyone who has, or has had back pain. It is made up of four levels comprising exercises for spinal mobility, core stability, functional training and cardiovascular exercise.

  • Comprehensive initial assessment and final assessment
  • 1 on 1 sessions, undivided attention of a Senior Physiotherapist

  • 6 weeks, 2/week sessions

Outline of the Better Back Program

  • Initial Assessment (1 hour)
  • 1:1 sessions of 30 mins, followed by independent aerobic exercise
  • Benchmarks used for progression to next level
  • Use measures from initial assessment to reassess and indicate readiness for progression

4 Levels of the Better Back Program

  1. oLevel 1 Alignment and CV fitness
  2. oLevel 2 Inner unit and CV fitness
  3. oLevel 3 Outer unit and CV fitness
  4. oLevel 4 Maintenance

The Better Back program is a great way to take an active role in improving your quality of life for anyone with back pain. You will be shown exercises to reduce back pain, support and stabilise your back, strengthen your core (inner) and big (outer) muscles and increase your confidence for exercise. We will also explain and practice what “core stability” really means and how to achieve a strong and stable core unit to reduce back pain.
