Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage aims at providing treatment for a specific problem area. Your Massage Therapist will work with you to identify your specific areas of concern and focus the massage on these. It involves working with all the soft tissue structures (muscle, tendons and ligaments) to allow these structures to resume their correct position. By using a combination of light and deep strokes, remedial massage works through to the 3rd and 4th layers of the muscle, improving the body’s circulation, easing muscle pain and tension, assisting the body’s immune system and promoting a feeling of well-being. It will give your body more energy and reduce the chance of injury and illness.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is an essential style of massage used before, during and after sporting competition or for the keen exerciser. Your body can get areas of overexertion or overuse, and Sports Massage is an effective way to relieve the pain, swelling and muscle tension. You will have improved flexibility, blood circulation and it also stimulates the production of natural joint lubrication. Your therapist will use a variety of techniques of soft and firm stokes including deep tissue massage, to release your tight muscles and any scar tissue build up. Many of our clients use this style as “maintenance” to lessen the chances of injury and reduce recovery time.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage helps with recovery by releasing tight muscles, thickened muscle fibres and breaking down scar tissue. This style helps to release toxins by working through the entire muscle and targets both the superficial and deep layers. It helps to increase joint range of movement and promotes flexibility and strength. It also stimulates the production of natural join lubrication which will free you up for movement.

Deep Tissue massage is suitable for many physical problems including chronic pain and sport-related muscle soreness. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on specific areas. You may experience some treatment soreness during or after the session lasting for a day or two.

Trigger Point Massage

This style targets knots and areas of referred pain in the muscle tissue. Your therapist will target these areas of hyperirritability to help ease muscle spasm, restricted movement and referred pain. Trigger points can be acute sources of pain or may occur post exercise (latent pain). They may go unnoticed by the client until pressure is applied by the practitioner. Trigger point releases involve applying localized, firm pressure over specific points within the muscle. The points may often be located in places different from where the client actually feels the pain, as there is frequently a referral pattern of pain associated with trigger points. There is usually instant relief from having a trigger point released, however a dull bruised sensation may last for a day or two.

Pregnancy Massage

Supported by specially-designed pillows, Pregnancy massage, also known as Pre-Natal Massage, relieves tension and discomfort caused by the extra weight and the shift in your body’s centre of gravity. This style will assist in reducing swelling, calm the nervous system, and increase circulation, carrying energy-producing nutrients to your cells and eliminating metabolic waste products that can cause fatigue.  You can enjoy this form of massage throughout all stages of your pregnancy. The pressure is generally softer and the massage strokes gentle and slow. All of the work done on specific body systems is relaxing and the mothers quite often fall asleep. The popular areas of the body the massage therapist will work on are the back, hips, neck, feet and legs. We can also massage the belly or show you how to do so. It is safe and is a great way to settle the baby in the womb.
